Steps to Life March NewsletterGreeting Steps to Life friends,We were pleased to host the Crisis on the Horizon Are you Prepared seminars in Melbourne this past February featuring Prof Walter Veith and Martin Smith from Clash of Minds. We saw a very strong support with 1500 people in attendance on Sabbath morning with most staying for the afternoon and night sessions. Prof. Walter Veith is a wealth of knowledge and on Friday night presented Evolution vs Creation and showed us from a scientific perspective that creation is indisputably true and showed evidence the theory of evolution is completely flawed. This assures us as bible based Christan's we are on a sure foundation. The Sabbath seminars included Overwhelming Surprise and Moment of Crisis were again packed with an amazing amount of information to help us see what is happening in the world we live. Martin Smith presented Finding Truth in the afternoon session where he shared his testimony and current events again reinforcing, we need to make a decision for God. All these presentations will be available from Steps to Life soon if you were unable to attend or wish to watch them again. We will advertise by email when the DVD's, MP3, and USB's are ready for distribution. We thank Walter and Sonica Veith plus Martin and Marna Smith for visiting us in Melbourne and their time and effort in presenting the Crisis on the Horizon ' Are You Prepared seminar. ApologyDear friends, Steps to life would like to thank you for coming and supporting the wonderful weekend with Walter Veith. Nevertheless, here at Steps we would like to make a public apology for the unsatisfactory meals that were served over that weekend even though we had given a requested menu. A formal complaint has been sent to the convention center management, and it has been noted. Next year we will endeavor to work more closely with the Chef and kitchen, to prevent a recurring issue. Once again, thanks for your support. Signs of the times we can't ignoreAs we read in bible prophesy, we know there are signs of the end time, and most people will quote Matt 24:6 'And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars'.' And we can certainly see plenty of these examples of war in the world today. But what about signs closer to home? Perhaps we can see signs within the communities we currently live? Recently the news in Australia has reported on the Big Build project in Victoria, for those that may not have heard about it, the Big Build is a huge infrastructure project currently underway in Melbourne. The Financial review newspaper said, 'The Victorian government is laying tracks, digging tunnels and paving roads to the tune of $208 billion in major infrastructure projects, and adding more'..' The public were left bewildered as the figures reported for all projects were now 50 to 100% above the original cost estimates. Then many news outlets reported corruption by the trade unions. The Guardian said, 'The CFMEU has cost Victorian taxpayers $15 billion.' 
Whilst we don't want to discuss politics it is interesting what Ellen White has to say on this subject. Ellen White frequently warned about trade unions in the last days. 'The trades unions will be one of the agencies that will bring upon this earth a time of trouble such as has not been since the world began.' Ellen G. White, Last Day Events p.116 She repeatedly warns about labour or trade unions in her writings, and we can see clear example of trade unions causing economic strife right now. Trade unions may seem harmless enough however Ellen White goes on to issue a warning to individuals. The principles governing the forming of these unions seem innocent, but men have to pledge themselves to serve the interests of these unions, or else they may have to pay the penalty of refusal with their lives. CSPLUC p.6.4 These unions are one of the signs of the last days. Men are binding up in bundles ready to be burned. They may be church members, but while they belong to these unions, they cannot possibly keep the commandments of God; for to belong to these unions means to disregard the entire decalogue. CSPLUC p.6.5 We must be careful of our association and affiliation in these last days. 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself' (Luke 10:27, KJV). This verse gives us clear instruction on how we are to consecrate our whole being in God's service. It would be impossible to obey these words and pledge yourself to an organisation that is unjust. Ellen White goes on to say, How can men obey these words, and form combinations that rob the poorer classes of the advantages which justly belong to them, preventing them from buying or selling, except under certain conditions. Those who claim to be the children of God are in no case to bind up with the labour unions that are formed or that shall be formed. This the Lord forbids. Cannot those who study the prophecies see and understand what is before us? Country living 10-12 The forming of these unions is one of Satan's last efforts. God calls upon His people to get out of the cities, isolating themselves from the world. The time will come when they will have to do this. God will care for those who love Him and keep His commandments.'E. G. White Letter 26, 1903. These warnings from the spirit of prophecy combined with current events are giving us clear warning that we are living in the time of the end. We need to stay true to God keep his commandments and the good news is that 'in a little while were going home'. May God bless you as we live and work for God. Brian has been an integral part of Steps to Life for 17years, his contribution has been exceedingly valuable. It was great for Brian to conclude his time at STL with such a successful event.
