Except Your Righteousness Exceed
(Walter Veith - 1 DVD)
When Jesus warned, “Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven,†His listeners must have been shocked. After all, the scribes and pharisees were thought to be the most righteous people in the land. And here was Jesus saying they didn’t measure up. More than that, Jesus said no one could have eternal life without eating His flesh and drinking His blood. What did He mean?
How can we know whether we have the mind of Christ or the mind of the pharisees? What distinguishes good works that are acceptable to God from those that are not? The Bible speaks about two very different types of righteousness. What are they? And what kind of perfection must we possess in order to stand without an intercessor? In this presentation, Walter Veith looks at justification by faith and Christ’s standard of righteousness.
