Steps to Life Bible Worker's Report #3 - March 2024

On Monday Hayley headed off again into the CBD of Melbourne to set up her stand with Francis again. This is a way they can maximise the conversations they have on current events of spiritual significance in a really natural way.

To do this she catches the train from Lilydale Station for the hour-long ride into the city. On the train ride God is opening up witnessing opportunities for her.

Here’s what happened this time.

'On Monday I made my way into the city to hand out books again. The train had just arrived at the station, so I got on the train and sat down. This train was not leaving for at least another 5 to 10 minutes, so I took a look around the train and noticed that quite a few people had bordered. I got a few books out of my bag and took the opportunity to approach the people on the train to see if anyone would be interested in a free book to read on their journey. To my surprise I was able to give 5 books out and then went back to my seat and offered a couple of books to the ladies near me, who politely said 'no thank you'.

When I am on the train, I always try to have something spiritual to read as it gives me a blessing and it can lead to other opportunities to reach someone. After being so focused on what I was reading I looked up and noticed that I was nearly to the city and asked the lady opposite what platform we had just past. She responded and said where we were, and commented saying 'when you read a good book you lose track of time'. This was an opportunity to tell her how amazing the book was even though there were only a few minutes before we arrived at my destination.

Originally, she wasn't interested in a book when I had offered one to her, but God was still working on her heart, so when I offered the book to her the second time she was very happy to take it and was reading it when I got off the train. God never gives up on trying to reach our hearts and minds. He is waiting for us to be open to share the message with everyone around us and is always setting up opportunities for us to behold His blessing'.

Hayley then went again to the State Library building precinct and set up her book stand with Francis.

She comments – 'While outside the State Library it is amazing the discussions that occur on so many topics, because of the books we are handing out. That day God blessed us by enabling us to give out 140 plus Great Controversies, as well as many Desire of Ages, Sundays is Not the Bible Sabbath, Steps to Christ, The Secret Terrorist, Inside Daniel and Revelation, Witchcraft Ruins Lives, The Ministry of Healing, Counsels on Diet and Food and some other Booklets.

Some of our most popular books are Ministry of Healing and Counsels on Diet and Food. It is amazing the people that have already become vegetarian but even more interesting are the discussions of how to eat plant based and how many people are searching for the right lifestyle, healthy living, and also for cures for sickness. God is so amazing how He has blessed us with the knowledge about healthy living. The health message is especially for this time'.

A few days later during the week as Hayley was helping her parents to shop at a fruit and vegetable market place near where they live Hayley still had her Bible Worker hat on.

Here’s what happened in Hayley’s words – 'God is always at work setting up opportunities wherever we are. My parents and I had gone to the local fruit store to get our supplies and while walking to the car a lady pulled into the car park next to my car. When she got out of her car I said hello and she was really happy to talk to someone. My parents were getting into the car, and she continued to talk. I got an over whelming feeling to ask her if I could give her a couple of books. She replied that 'that would be lovely', and so I went to my car and got out a Steps to Christ and a Great Controversy. She was happy to accept them.

What a privilege these opportunities are, and full of God’s wonderful blessing.'

Each person who receives a book or who has a chat with Hayley is offered an invitation to sign up for a Bible study. Given the interest Hayley is finding that people have in health topics, on the back of the card is a healthy recipe.

Our shared aim is to glean Bible Study contacts for her to follow through with. She can do this via Zoom with people anywhere in Australia (Or even people who want to Bible Study from overseas countries.). She has presently in person Bible Studies taking place on a regular basis.

STL has committed to fund the costs associated with Hayley’s Bible Worker role. The books Hayley was able to share this week had a value of about $250.
